Garve Public Hall (Update - December 23)

Post in Community Ownership by Alan Ross
Hall Trustees are pleased to share with the community regular updates on how hall renovation works are progressing.

Christmas Update 9 - A word from our Chair

Garve Public Hall Trustees were happy to receive keys back for the hall during November 2023. The hall really is looking fantastic, and I cannot thank everyone enough who has been involved in getting us to this stage, but here goes: -

  • Garve Public Hall Trustees for their years of dedicated service including those Trustees we have sadly lost along the way.
  • Families of Trustees – we never forget that the role of a Trustee and their duties do have an impact on family life.
  • Local volunteers who may not be Trustees but also put a lot of work into supporting the hall and grounds – you know who you are!
  • Hilary and our local posties for their patience during renovation works.
  • Tina Hartley, Community Engagement & Development Officer from the Development Company – since joining the Company in 2018, Tina has continued to support and advise Trustees, ensuring this community priority was pushed forward as part of the Community Development Plan.
  • The Garve & District Development Company for their work around community development and identifying our community needs and wants.
  • All the professionals involved in the project – Neil Ross, Architect, Bill Hamilton, KLM, and contractors IBI who have been just great to work with.  Great to work with a contractor who offers up solutions to identified problems.
  • Last but not least, Lochluichart Community Trust and The Highland Council Regeneration Capital Grant Fund who both provided funds to support renovation.

Trustees are working away to get the hall ready for opening mid to late January 2024. We are arranging the final touches, getting curtains back in place, washing kitchen equipment and getting the kitchen ready for use, ordering tables and chairs and getting conference equipment in place, plus wfi – it all takes time.  We are also working through snagging items with IBI too.

Moving forward Trustees are considering how to officially open the hall and looking at what kind of event to hold. We are also planning a new website which will hopefully have an automated booking system too – so it is all go!

I will be back in touch in the New Year, but in the meantime, on behalf of Garve Public Hall Trustees, I wish you and your families a very peaceful Christmas and look forward to welcoming you all back to Garve Public Hall in the New Year.
