We have held two engagement events so far:-
Engagement Event 1 - Summer Festival, Saturday, 2 September 2023 at Ledgowan Lodge Hotel.
Engagement Event 2 - Tuesday, 12 September 2023, Lochluichart Community Hall.
Our third event planned for Garve, which was due to be held in Uisdean's garden, was postponed due to terrible weather experienced on the day. However, remember that to date, every household had the opportunity to return comments on the community survey back in 2022, and every household has been informed on how to take part in our Phase 2 engagement process: -
- Attend one of the three community engagement events.
- Email us - use the CONTACT FORM
- Write to us - The Garve & District Development Company, Unit 1a, Latheron Centre, Latheron Lane, Ullapool, Ross-shire, IV26 2XB.
- Telephone us - 07838815085
- Arrange a one-to-one chat with myself and a director either in person or via zoom/teams.
- Contact us via our social media platforms.
Sadly, we have been unable to secure a venue local to Garve village for our final face to face event and this will now be rescheduled for the New Year with a welcome return to Garve Public Hall.
We mentioned in our last update that we have a small sewage system on the land – ownership of the system and connection to it is currently being investigated, however this is a slow process.
Garve Public Hall
The community has been receiving monthly updates with regards to renovation of the hall. Trustees were excited to recently receive the keys back on completion. They are now working hard to get the hall ready for opening hopefully during January 2024.
Achnasheen Village Hall
The hall continues to support our Activate Garve & District Project's events and Achnasheen Amenities Association has a planned programme of events which is great to see. Achnasheen Amenities Association are awaiting the results of recent surveys delivered to households within our area before they consider the hall's future.
Garve & District War Memorial
Friends of the War Memorial continue to keep the path and site clean and tidy and maintain community flower barrels. They supported the 2023 remembrance event and are making plans for the centenary year. Longer term plans include negotiating the transfer of land surrounding the site and improvement to the path.
Community Defibrillators
Remain in place and are now managed as a community service by Lochluichart Community Trust.
Community Hand Sanitisers
Are still in use and refilled as required.
Electrostatic Cleaning System
Two handheld sanitisers are still available for community use.
Wyvis Natural Playpark
The playpark group are always responsive to community comments and feedback and work hard to keep the playpark tidy.

I am glad we will know more about the sewage arrangements on the site. Hope it wont be too long coming as it is hard too make decisions for future projects without the full information. Most people in our area know about the complications that can arise with regard to sewage and drainage.
