What's been happening? (Community Groups & Events)

TG&DDC want to let you all know how work is progressing around the Community Development Plan's theme - Community Groups & Events

Progress so far!

Remember we have a a Groups & Clubs page where new groups can register and the community can see what is available within the area.

Our Activate Garve & District project has been extremely busy developing community activities and encouraging residents to join; issuing all sorts of activity packs for young and old; and arranging a series of Summer events. All of which were free to residents. As a reminder of activities promoted check out the Community Groups and Events News

Community groups that have received support from us are – Garve Public Hall Trustees, Achnasheen Amenities Group, Lochluichart Community Centre, Garve Community Events Group and Garve Litter Busters.

An Activate Garve & District Phase 2 application has recently been submitted to LCT, so keep fingers crossed!

Our role is to develop community groups and help them build capacity and become self-sustainable, so if you would like to form a new group just give us a shout and we will see if others would like to join you.

Given that our rural community is so small in numbers, we feel it is important to work with neighbouring communities, not only in the promotion of their activities but also in encouraging them to come along and join us – more the merrier!

Well done and thank you for the progress you've made in fostering a sense of community through community groups and events. I totally agree with working with neighbouring communitiies, particularly as it makes some of our small community groups more sustainable. It's also great to meet others from outside our community and discover what they are up to and draw on their skills.
