Moving slowly but definitely moving!Post in Community Groups & Events by Alan Ross
Progress with renovation of the hall is slow but we are moving forward. We have also been working jointly with other community organisations.
November 2021 - Where are we up to?
In recent months trustees have been happy to work in partnershp with other community organisations/groups in considering purchase of Garve Hotel land and its potential for community development. Historically, trustees have wanted additional parking facilities for the hall but have never been able to acquire land to support this - we hope a successful bid and any potential development would take this into consideration, alongside hopefully some outdoor space for community events. We wish The Garve & District Development Company and Lochluichart Community Trust luck with taking this community opportunity forward.
In terms of the hall itself, an asbestos survey is now complete and we are awaiting the buidling warrant to allow us to move plans forward - so fingers crossed this will be received soon.
In terms of funding, we are grateful for the support of Tina Hartley, Community Engagement and Development Officer who has just completed a Stage 2 Regeneration Capital Grant application which would provide some match funding alongside LCT for build and refurbishment costs.
We have put a new emergency entry system in place for our users, if required, and are looking at how we can continue to improve access to the hall moving forward. We are piloting a new booking system and this is proving successful at the the moment and allows our Treasurer to produce invoices in much more efficient manner.
Thankfully, we have seen an increase in hall usage and welcome back the Development Company's Activitate Garve and District Project's events, we welcome back the primary school and are pleased to be hosting theory tests for the DVLA.
Clear Covid cleaning measures are still in place.
