Garve Public Hall (Update 2 - May 23)

Post in Community Ownership by Alan Ross
Hall Trustees are pleased to share with the community regular updates on how hall renovation works are progressing with April 2023 seeing contractors on site!

Renovation Update 2 - May 23

A pre-start meeting was held on 21 March 2023, the meeting set out the plan about how the contract would be managed.  At this stage the envisaged programme of works was 42 weeks and contractors planned to be on site by 17 April 2023.  Prior to this, trustees needed to empty the hall and have contents ready for storage.  Trustees had also undertaken further ground works in preparation for the start of the contract.

Site Meeting of 27 April 2023 - good progress had been made - security fencing erected around site perimeter; stripped site including removing tree stumps to gain access; teram and hardcore; SSEN relocation completed on Thursday 20th April; removed light fittings and heaters; stripped linings from walls inside main hall; started removing timber floor in main hall; and stripped out kitchen and toilet areas.  The community defibrillator was relocated to the site notice board near the post office.

Please check out the images below which we will keep updated as the contract moves forward.

As ever thanks go out to our funders Lochluichart Community Trust and Scottish Government.

Wonderful that the newly renovated hall will be the start of community regeneration for our area!

According to grants approved to Dec 2022 there was an award of £811 for hall CCTV, from what I understand this CCTV was installed at the hall in July 2022, 9 months before demolition work began at the hall.

Can I ask, was the CCTV system uninstalled and set aside for re-use when the hall re-opens?

Thanks

Evening Chris

Bob Moir, GPH Treasurer as asked me to respond on his behalf - he has no access to the site at present.

"Heating, lighting, CCTV and all other items which can be reinstalled have been put in storage and will be reused where possible. This has been agreed with the contractor as part of the schedule of works."
