Befriending Service Teddies

Befriending Service in Garve & District!

Post in Community by Heather Donaldson
The Helping Hands Befriending Service is now available in our area through a fantastic partnership between Highland Hospice and GALE Action Forum.

Your Very Own Volunteer!

The service offers support to people at home who have been identified as needing help by friends, family or the NHS.  Each person has their own specially trained volunteer who visits for 2 - 4 hours per week and will help to link that person with the local community.

Volunteers can provide practical and personal support to people in need without having to offer clinical or personal care. It could be helping someone who has just been discharged from hospital, someone who has a health condition which affects their life, or someone who has had a bereavement.  It could be keeping someone company or going out on trips with them.  These are just a few examples of how the volunteers can make a big difference to the people they support.
