Community Priority: Community Path Network
Check out the information below that was presented at the recent coffee morning held at Garve Public Hall. TP&E have been working on options for both North and South sides of Garve & District: -
- Contin to Garve
- Garve to Gorston
- Garve to Gorston taking in the War Memorial path
Remember this is your priority which you have consistently wished to take forward: -
- First identified in the 2016 Community Survey
- Confirmed as part of the 2019 - 2024 Community Development Plan
- Confirmed again in the 2021 Garve & District Action Plan for Active Travel and Sustainable Transport
The document attached shows what the next steps are, which are around completing the concept design and further applications for funding working with SUSTRANS. An important part of this process is getting support from local community organisations and groups, we already have support from our elected members. We are therefore contacting: -
- Lochluichart Community Trust (who are funding this initial stage)
- Garve and District Community Council
- Garve Public Hall
- Achnasheen Amenities Group
- Lochluichart Community Hall
- Traffic Calming Group
- Strathgarve Primary School
The project links clearly with the community's wish for land development - bike hub, bike hire, riverside paths etc and it is great to community priorities linking up!

Is there a scale reference for the route map? Have I missed it?

Hi Pam
Thanks for your comment.
We have added another document for the South route that has a scale on it.

Is there any plan to allow path access at Tarvie?
John Fenwick said:
Hello Dawn Thanks for your question. The proposal is to work with Forestry and Land Scotland to produce an upgraded path between Strathgarve and Contin. The path is to be aligned with the route of the forestry owned roads. There is access currently from Tarvie to this part of the proposed route via the footbridge at Loch na Croic but it’s not part of the project. If we are successful developing the proposed path, an improved Tarvie link could well be worth investigating.
