Men from Garve & District Welcome
Post in Community Groups & Events by Alan IllingworthDingwall Mens Shed (DMS) is a Community Group serving the social and health needs of men within Dingwall and surrounding areas.
Please come and join us - you would be most welcome!
Our purpose is to reduce social isolation through the provision of recreational and craft facilities and to advance the social needs, health needs and well-being of men of all ages and backgrounds living in Dingwall and surrounding areas. We are very active within the community by maintaining amenity areas in Parks and Public places and in helping vulnerable groups and individuals in their homes and gardens. Above all we have provided a gateway back into society for men who for whatever reason have been excluded.
We want to achieve the aim of becoming a significant sponsor for the improvement of men’s health and wellbeing. With regard to our membership, the shed aims to double its existing membership to 68 by 2021. The vision is to develop premises to meet the needs of the Men’s Shed but also to provide space for other community groups who are currently nomadic. The new facility will enable us to increase community capacity in partnership with other agencies. Partnerships will be developed with other third sector organisations, local businesses and public bodies.
Mens Sheds are a place for men of all ages to come and relax, socialise, or even work with their hands.
Dingwall Mens Shed currently runs every wednesday, 11am-1pm at Ross County's Community Hub. Come along if you have a bit of free time, any hobbies or interests are welcomed.

DMS is a really inspirational movement. The members are friendly and really helpful. They tend to do most of their work with recycled wood and have recently acquired metal working machinery. Come along and enjoy a cup of tea with the team.

Perhaps you gentlemen could help me formulate my idea, which is .'Stalls in the Hall' days? I was thinking possibly 3 days a year when people could show and sell their handmade, homegrown , edible goods and promote their ideas too. A grant of £ 200 would pay hire of the hall for a few hours on the days chosen and I am sure people who just manage to make only one or two pieces etc. would welcome the social side of things without the pressure of deadlines and showcase expense. What do you think ?

Hi Pamela,
I think this is a good idea. I have set up a stall for the last two open days (Energy Day and another?). Dingwall Men's Shed upcycle a lot of materials, so the opportunity to sell on these items to fund the movement would be a great idea.
