The aim of the grant is to provide support to those residents of Garve and District who find themselves living in difficult circumstances.

Aim:  To further Lochluichart Community Trust’s and The Garve & District Development Company’s object – “advancement of community development”, more specifically the purpose of “rural regeneration”.

Objective:  Address rural deprivation - the SIMD data zone that incorporates Garve and the surrounding settlements is rated 47th of 6,505.  In terms of geographic access deprivation, indicating that the population is one of the most deprived in Scotland.

Before applying for a grant, we expect applicants to have made full use of support available from the Government; the welfare system and flexibility offered by banks, building societies and utility companies.

What can the grant be used for?

For public benefit, funding provided by this grant, can be used to improve access to services and/or improve health and well-being.  Just a few examples of what the fund could support: -

Increased fuel costs – help towards travelling to work, travelling to school, travelling to medical appointments, travelling to events in support of well-being.

Increased energy costs – help towards paying energy bills.

Increased cost of living – help to purchase children’s clothes, uniforms and shoes, help to purchase household food, help to purchase essential household items, help to support public transport costs to access services etc.

Who can apply for the grant?

You can only apply for this grant if you are vulnerable and are in need by reason of age, ill-health, or disability, and you must live permanently within the Garve and District boundary.  The grant is available per household and not per person.

How much can I apply for?

You can apply for up to £150 every 6 months, a total of up to £300 per annum.  Dependent on information provided we may telephone you to discuss your application.

Proof of residency

We generally know the people living in our community, but if not, we will ask for a copy of a utility bill or bank statement with your name and address on it as proof of residency.

This grant is only available to permanent residents of households within the Community Council boundary of Garve and District.
