A recent Statement from the Scottish Government states the following in support of Community Energy.

For over a decade the Scottish Government's flagship Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) has provided support to hundreds of local community groups and other eligible organisations to develop, own and/ or take a stake in local renewable energy projects across Scotland.  The post COVID-19 green recovery now requires a shift in focus to decarbonisation as the key driver for community-led action at a local level.

Speakers from Comrie Croft and Nairn community arts centre  share their success in developing Community Energy projects.

Catriona Knott and James Buchan from Local Energy Scotland give a background to the work they do to support Community Energy Initiatives.

In this meeting we look at how at how energy produced from renewable energy sources may be used or sold locally for community benefit.

What income generating activities could work in Garve & District ?

  • An outdoor center with a Cafe?
  • Private wire for a community housing project?
  • A community mini bus powered by renewable energy?
  • EV charging and amenities for visitors to the area?

The Zoom meeting will be hosted by Ewan Bush with support from the Energy Group and Tina Hartley.

Please contact Ewan Bush here if you would like to join the the meeting.
